Burn baby burn!

As I lie in bed trying to gather the will to go to sleep I notice two reddish purple round circles on my wrist... burns. Although the small burns hurt a little (especially since I scratched one), these two minor injuries reming me of something very important that I wanted to blog about! I'll get to the burn part in a minute but first the fun stuff! Monday was Bry and I's one year anniversary! Yay us! Instead of doing the traditional go out to dinner thing we decided to do something a little different! Something that I have wanted to do for some time now... drum roll please... a cooking class! Yeah, Yeah, I know it doesn't sound all THAT exciting, but if you took the class you would understand my enthusiasm. The one we took was called Sushi Soiree. And I have to tell you Bry and I made the best spicy tuna roll that I have ever had! We learned knife techniques, helpful hints, how to make sushi rice, cucumber salad, and 4 different rolls (my injuries were sustained while making the shrimp tempura roll). And we were stuffed. Like unbelievably so. These were the fattest, most overflowing sushi rolls you would have ever seen! I don't have any pictures but I urge you to check out www.eatzla.com. The classes take place in a lovely home and consist of about 14 people. It's a little tight but drinks are provided and once you get cooking (and drinking) everyone becomes friends. It's really a fun way to do date night or just learn a few new recipes and cooking techniques from a culinary school graduate. And don't worry my burns will be fine... although I'm sure they will leave a little scar so that I can forever remember by sushi making adventure!

peace, love, happiness, and cooking!!
